What if I fly?

The windows here in Europe open differently than the USA. If you turn the handle one way, you can tilt it open. If you keep turning it, most swing wide open, sans screens.

I always remember the Disney movies- how princesses lean out the screenless windows to call to the birds or the people below. And now- I feel like that princess. I love leaning out my windows to see the beautiful forest in the back or the people on the street in the front. It’s my Disney princess era after all!

I always remember the quote, about falling and flying, and I repeat it to myself often here. But recently, I wanted to share it with a friend and found the larger portion of it, and it is truly beautiful.

“There is freedom waiting for you,
On the breezes of the sky,
And you ask "What if I fall?"
Oh but my darling,
What if you fly?”

Falling is terrifying, and I feel the fear of falling so often, and so heavily. But on so many days- I feel the power of flight. I’m flying. Personally and professionally. I’m soaring to heights I couldn’t have imagined or asked for. Some days I’m not flying- just trying to get off the runway. But when I do- the sights and experiences of flying high about it all are magnificent.

I texted a friend saying "I know you will laugh at me..." and described my Disney princess vibes. The other thing I love is when I walk directly onto a puddlejumper, via the small curved steps. I always feel like a fancy lady out of a James Bond movie, and it brings me so much joy. I was overwhelmed at the message I got: I really like the way you enjoy your life. You're able to appreciate every little moment and that's inspiring. Please don't change.".

I was stunned. I do enjoy a lot of my life, and the smallest things do bring me great joy (currently it's the real straberry earrings I'm obsessively wearing!). But the please don't change- I'm so grateful for that reminder.
