Overpriced Ice cream

If you know me, you know I adore ice cream. I've been holding out buying any here (despite Jackie's daily encouragement), but today I finally caved.

It's been a full day today. I had a lot of administrative things to do. In Luxembourg, you have to present yourself at the mayor's office after you arrive, to get your formal residency papers. Also needed is a doctor appointment and letter and TB test. My relocation fairy godmother kindly took me to all the appointments, and helped navigate the red tape. At the mayor's office, we ran into some of her Canadian clients- officially the first non-work people I've met in Luxembourg! One tetanus shot and a blood draw later, I was back at my house and crashed hard core.

All the things today pointed to finally getting my long awaited ice cream, so I walked across the street to the 7-11-esque convenience store. A few iced teas and a carton of ice cream later, I was home, but mulling over my seemingly high total. Luckily I had managed to get a receipt, where I found my tub of ice cream was three times the price I thought I had seen there. Oh well, a small price to pay for getting flustered when people greet me in Luxembourgish and I try to pass off as being French :)

Highlights from the day:

  • getting my blood drawn on one stick!
  • the gorgeous sunshine
  • lighting the most beautiful candle from Nicci (and simultaneous sweet check-in messages from Nicci!)
  • a good nap and the rest my body has been craving
  • decent blood sugars
Thanks for following along friends!
