Made it Monday
So many of you cheered me on today, that it felt only right to share the highlights with y'all. Thanks for all the messages, emails, and barrage of texts I woke up to * cough Grace and Heidi*.
Today went better than expected. I had visited the Luxembourg office in October, and met many at a family day. Several kindly remembered me and greeted me through the day. One colleague went out of his way to make sure we had a conversation and encourage me to explore Europe! Weekend colleague remembered me mention my love of classical music and brought me the program from the Philharmonie 😭
I also accepted an offer of a ride to a work event next week, and got a calendar booking sent to me 😁
The morning was a very uncertain start, but the friendliness of so many and the massive pile of emails to dig through soon set me in a rythmn.
For lunch, I walked with the 2 marketing ladies to a lovely Italian shop, where we got salads, amazing bread, and the most delicious pistashio cookie!
The afternoon was rough, as I haven't been sleeping well at night, and I started dragging a bit. But I also managed to connect to the printer, address a number of emails, and prepare for tomorrow's immigration appointments.
While I made it to the right bus on time this morning, I decided to simply walk back tonight and it worked out great!
Things I'm learning:
Don't cross the crosswalk unless it's green, even if there are no cars coming.
The doors in the office are massively heavy and slam. Also they all open inwards 🤨
Don't interrupt your colleagues on their private lunch time. It's non work time 😄
Everyone will be using full ceramic plates and metal silverware for their elaborate lunches. No sandwhiches here!
My pronunciation of "Good Evening" is apparently flawless. My timing of when to say it is not 😆
